Fall 2012
26The primary design theme for the Tanaka of Tokyo restaurant was based on a Japanese traditional farmhouse (“minka”) using traditional Japanese design elements like dark wood, stone, and handcrafted privacy screens, and juxtaposed with modern elements including metal panels, glass surfaces, and striking colors. Nature references were an extension of the Japanese farmhouse theme and also integrated with the Waikiki Shopping Plaza building’s theme of “Urban Nature.”
