The Hawaii Hochi is a six-day-a-week Japanese-language newspaper published and sold in Hawaii.
The newspaper was founded by Frederick Kinzaburo Makino in 1912 to serve the Japanese immigrant community in Hawaii.
MGA designed a renovation for their new location in Mapunapuna. By combining multiple buildings and modernizing the exterior and interior, the finished design presents an industrial chic aesthetic to both complement the surrounding neighborhood and honor the company’s history and Japanese culture.
The building serves as a combined home to the newspaper’s offices as well as printing facilities and warehouse.
